Torhout is een plaats en stad in de provincie West-Vlaanderen in België. De stad telt ruim 19.000 inwoners.
Torhout wordt als hoofdstad van het Houtland beschouwd. Voor de spellingshervormingen werd Torhout als Thourout gespeld; in West-Vlaanderen wordt de naam dan ook nu nog steevast als "Toeroet" uitgesproken.
